GOOD CONSERVATION PRACTICES:

  • Plant Seeds For Food Plots
  • Reduce Pollutants Caused By Households and Farming Practices (Agriculture & Households are the largest polluters)
  • Reduce or Eliminate the Use Of Herbicides and Chemical Fertilizers
  • Preserve Wetlands Through Controlled Commercial & Housing Development

These are just a few of the things we can do to help conserve our wildlife.  Remember what you do affects many and that includes our animal populations.

What is Conservation

Conservation is the preservation of wildlife and habitats through proper usage of our wild lands.  Only by managing and preserving the natural areas remaining can we reduce the impact of man on our wildlife heritage and the planet.

The Two Types of Wildlife Conservation Defined

There are two distinct areas of conservation that occur in our society today. One is Wildlife Conservation and the second is Game Conservation. Each has as its end goal the proper conservation of animals in our wild areas. Each conservation practice involves the usage of food plots to fortify the food supply for wildlife that is no longer naturally available.

We have a volume of information on food plots in the menus to the right. There is information on when and how to plant, preparation before planting as well as products to supply you with superior food plots. Please feel free to explore the site and gain valuable information!

Wildlife conservation is using a variety of tools, resources and laws to manage wildlife in a specified area.  A good wildlife conservationist, understands that wild means some animals will live and some will die. That is nature and everyday survival for the wild areas. Wildlife conservation may or may not include management using the hunting techniques that Game conservation does. However the Wildlife conservationist still must use the same resources to establish wildlife through food resource management food plots, introduction of species and the management of overall game populations using various techniques.

Game conservation is also the proper management using limited resources and lands to maximize the wildlife population. Over population can have detrimental effects on future generations of wildlife, especially in areas with limited food sources. Proper management by "harvesting" game, using a mature morally fair method of hunting is the ideal way to manage game. This type of hunting is balanced against number of game stocked and territories in addition to the management of food sources through the establishment of food plots for both natural area game and specific game animals such as deer quail, duck and turkey.
