Perennial Blend Food Plot Seed For Extreme Conditions

New ground-breaking perennial designed for EXTREME CONDITIONS
IFood Plot of Imperial Whitetail Extremet is a frustrating situation many hunters and land managers face every year: some of their best hunting spots have the worst soil. Or their rainfall is so low (below 30 inches) that there is not adequate moisture to support a good perennial forage food plot crop so vital for their whitetail herds and other wildlife. Some food plot managers can’t get the required acid-neutralizing lime to areas where perennial plots are desired or they have soil that can’t be neutralized. And food plot managers in some regions often receive less than the 30 inches of minimum rainfall needed for Imperial Clover and Alfa-Rack to thrive. With the toughest planting conditions in mind, the Whitetail Institute set out to develop a perennial food plot crop that would not just survive but thrive in poor soils and under extremely dry conditions. And they succeeded with Imperial Whitetail Extreme, the latest food plot seed blend scientifically developed by the Institute to appeal to a whitetail’s taste.
Thanks to years of research, painstaking genetic selection and careful blending of seeds, new Extreme can withstand a pH range of 5.4 to 7.5 and requires only a minimum of 15 inches of rainfall. It is also remarkably heat resistant and cold tolerant. In short, it’s a tough product for extreme conditions.  Most important, Extreme provides a high-quality protein-rich food source all year round. The kind of protein necessary to produce healthy deer and fawns and especially trophy racks in the critical 200-day antler-growing season.
Just as importantly, deer are extremely attracted to the food plot seed blend. As a matter of fact, its attractiveness actually rivals that of the legendary Imperial Whitetail Clover food plots.  Whitetail extreme is not meant to replace Whitetail Clover or Alfa-Rack products, but instead Whitetail Extreme is designed for those areas where food plots are desired and needed but the soil and harsh weather conditions prevent the usage of these other products in food plots.

Extreme will also grow in areas with normal annual rainfalls of up to 60 inches as long as it’s planted in soils that drain. Also, while Extreme can withstand lower pH levels than other perennial food plots, it performs even better at levels from 6.0 to 6.5.  So you are not limited in the use of Extreme food plot seed to just poor areas, extreme has a wide range of adaptability.

Q&A On Imperial Whitetail Extreme Food Plot Seed

Q. WHAT IS EXTREME
A. Extreme is a perennial food plot product that consists of forbs, legumes and other high preference forages that allow you to plant in soils and climates that normally will not support a long-lasting perennial food plot. Until the introduction of Extreme, these lower pH soils and drier climates were sometimes difficult for even an annual crop to produce.

Q. HOW LONG WILL EXTREME LAST?
A. Extreme can last up to 5 years without replanting. Some research has shown much longer stand life. Lifespan will be determined by weather, soil fertility and weed control.

Q. IS EXTREME BETTER THAN IMPERIAL CLOVER AND ALFA-RACK?
A. Extreme was designed to fill a niche that our research identified. Imperial Clover and Alfa-Rack are designed to be planted in 6.5 pH soils with a minimum annual rainfall of 30”. Extreme can thrive in lower pH soils and requires a minimum of only 15 inches of annual rainfall. Ideal pH for optimum production and usage is between 6.0-7.0.

Q. SHOULD I PLANT IMPERIAL CLOVER OR EXTREME?
A. You need to soil test to determine soil fertility and pH. Then decide if the soil gets and holds enough moisture to support Imperial Clover. If either pH or moisture falls below the ideal levels for Imperial Clover then Extreme is your answer.

Q. HOW DO I PLANT EXTREME?
A. Soil test for a forb planting. Follow the recommendations for any lime and fertilizer additions. Add the recommended amounts of lime and fertilizer and thoroughly disc them into the soil. Level the area with a drag or cultipacker. Broadcast the seed. Cultipack the area after spreading the seed. Do not drag the area or the seed may get too deep to grow.

Q. IS pH IMPORTANT?
A. As with most perennials, always strive for the pH to be 6.5 to 7. But in cases where the pH is lower, Extreme will do well. The advantage of raising the pH for an Extreme planting is to sweeten the taste of the plants to get even better performance and usage by the animals. With higher pH levels the plants can establish much quicker.

Q. WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF ADDING EXTREME TO MY EXISTING PLANTINGS?

A. Extreme allows you the opportunity to plant areas that don’t normally produce perennial crops, with a top-quality deer attracting forage. Extreme is highly attractive to your deer and sometimes these difficult areas can be some of your best plots for hunting. It also adds diversity/variety to your food plot offerings.

Q. HOW MUCH AREA WILL 56 POUNDS PLANT?
A. 56 pounds of Extreme will plant up to 2 ˝ acres. (22.4 pounds per acre) We also have 28 and 5.6 pound bags available.

Q. IS EXTREME DROUGHT RESISTANT?
A. As with any crop, nothing is completely drought proof but it is the most drought resistant high quality forage we have found. It has been tested in Florida, Texas and the sandy upper peninsula of Michigan with great results. Good results were even achieved in Nevada where annual rainfalls were around 16”. Extreme requires moisture to establish. Follow the planting time recommendations to increase the odds of sufficient moisture at the time of establishment.

"Extreme is the most drought-resistant perennial blend available for whitetail. This amazing product stays green longer than other perennials even during severe drought, scorching heat and bitter cold. It really opens the door to perennial plots in some of the harshest growing regions, including most of Texas and Florida, the mountain West, the Great Plains and Canada any place that receives at least 15 inches of rainfall a year."

EXTREME ADVANTAGES…

  1. Thrives in low pH soils.
  2. Easy to establish.
  3. Produces quality forage in extremely dry conditions.
  4. Opens areas that have been difficult to plant in the past.
  5. Can last up to 5 years without replanting.

"Like Imperial Clover and Alfa-Rack, Extreme can last up to five years without replanting, providing vital protein to whitetail herds’ season after season."
